Purpose of the Documentation:

This documentation aims to provide users with a comprehensive guide on how to effectively utilize the IT Department Inventory Management System and its accompanying Android App. It outlines the system's purpose, features, and benefits.


System Overview:

The IT Department Inventory Management System is a robust solution designed to streamline inventory management processes within the school. It offers features such as Adding, deleting and editing of the data in the inventory tables. The Android App complements the system with mobile access to the online database that will make inventory management easy and convenient


System Requirements:

Hardware Requirements: To run the Inventory Management System, ensure you have a computer or server with the minimum specifications, that has installed morden web browsers like chrome and firefox


Software Requirements:

To run the offline example that is submitted you will need Xampp software and some Text Editors to edit and manupulate the software.


Installation Guide:

Installing the Inventory Management System: Follow the step-by-step instructions to install the Inventory Management System on your designated server or computer. This includes setting up the necessary databases, configuring system settings, and establishing user accounts
1. Extract The Zip file and move all files to htdocs of your xampp or move the zip file into htdocs folder then extract.
2. Now now there will be two folders and 1 index file. Do not move any file around because they are placed where they are written to be placed. The html folder contains the landing page and the about file, the ims folder contains all necessary files, images, bootstrap and icons.
3. go to phpmyadmin and create a new database called ims_db then click import and clict browse to select the database file. The Sql file is inside the database folder inside the ims folder.
4. make sure it is successfully imported then on the browser type localhost/Group5_IMS/ and the landing page should appear by then.
5. Top There should be a colorful background. top navigation should contain Home, Documantation and login.
6. Click login and type one of these username and password
1. admin@mail.com, pass = admin123,
2. ekokele@mail.com, pass = ekokele123,
3. gmalt@mail.com, pass = gmalt123,
4. lknox@mail.com, pass = lknox123

After successfully logging in it will land in the landing page. every ID number in there is a primary key.
Finally, you can now use the delete, edit and add new icon buttons to munipulate the tables. the online copy is always available for the end user or the staff and IT Shop Assistant.

Installing the Android App:

Install the Android app to manage to live hosted inventory system. It might not be too friendly but it gets the job done online.


Managing Inventory:

Learn how to add new items to the inventory, update item information, categorize and tag items, and set stock levels and thresholds.
